Brief introduction of Hongshan site

      The Hongshan Site Museum is located at 200 Feifeng Road, Hongshan Street, Xinwu District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. It is a specialized museum of the site, built on the site of the excavated super large Warring States period aristocratic tomb of Qiu Chengdun, based on the Hongshan National Archaeological Site Park. The Hongshan Site Museum was officially completed in April 2008, with a total construction area of 8578 square meters. In 2020, it was rated as a national second level museum.

      In 2024, the museum will carry out exhibition improvement work, and the improved exhibition space will consist of four parts: "Fengming Hongshan, Star Moving Wuyue - Exhibition of Archaeology and Historical Culture at Hongshan Site", Qiu Chengdun's original exhibition hall, "Pottery Source Porcelain Manuscripts - Remnants of Hongshan Yue Tomb", and a temporary exhibition hall. It will comprehensively introduce the Hongshan Site and its related archaeological achievements, reproduce the archaeological excavation site, and focus on the pottery and celadon unearthed from the noble tombs of Hongshan Yue Kingdom, and carry out science popularization around the material and processing technology of the objects.

      The museum adopts a "immersive+exhibition" display mode that combines movement and stillness, and adds physical interactive devices, artistic expression devices, and sound interactive devices to the display methods; In terms of technology, various new digital technologies such as naked eye 3D, crystal electronic sand table, holographic projection, virtual interactive magic wall, air imaging, 3D mapping projection, transparent cultural relic interactive screen, AI digital human, etc. are integrated and applied. There are about 20 touch interaction points in the museum, which are empowered by technology to bring cultural relics to life, achieving a deep integration of cultural relics and technology, helping audiences to understand the stories behind cultural relics more intuitively and clearly, effectively enhancing audience participation and immersive experience.

      There are approximately 1173 cultural relics in the collection, which have extremely high historical, artistic, and scientific value. There are exquisitely carved jade flying phoenixes, jade rabbits, etc; There are a large number of blue porcelain and hard pottery, and the unique shapes of glazed plates, snakes, and exquisite balls showcase the cultural style and superb craftsmanship of the Wu Yue region during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.
